The mission of the Center of Excellence for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine (CESC) is to advance research and education in the field of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. The center aims to establish a state-of-the-art stem cell research facility, and a human umbilical cord blood bank and a bio-repository.
Research projects are conducted by focus groups. These include pluripotency in adult stem cells, pluripotency and cancer, stem cell therapy in diabetes mellitus, and biotechnology in stem cell research.
The center implements a research-based education via formal classes for graduate and undergraduate students. Workshops and courses for hands-on training of junior researchers and scientists are designed to develop their skills in the field.
The CESC adopts environmentally friendly and ethically sound life for its staff and students, and is involved in several and international collaborations.
