Safety and Security
The university's area is about 200 acres in Hadayek October in Giza Governorate, is a safe area. The entry of university personnel is regulated through policies that have been carefully developed to ensure ease of entry for students, faculty members, and all university employees, while preventing the entry of any stranger without previous permission as a visit to allow him to cross the gates, to secure the campus better and control the knowledge of those present on the campus. And completely preventing any outsiders from entering the city.
Entry to the university requires the student to have the university card at the time of entry and place it on the entry devices at the gates to allow him to enter automatically, monitored by the latest camera surveillance systems inside all university places, buildings, fences and gates.
Safety philosophy in Zewail City
The Environmental Health and Safety team at Zewail City for Science and Technology has set guidelines to include the hazards of handling hazardous materials and tools and their use in the city according to the 5th book of Occupational health , Safety and the working environment of the Labor Law 12 of 2003. These guidelines are mandatory and applying to all potential hazards in Zewail City to preserve the health and life of everyone.
General safety and protection objectives:
- Protect human from injuries caused by the hazards of the working & educational or research environment.
- Preserving the physical element (facilities and their equipment and instruments) from damage and loss as a result of accidents.
- Providing and implementing occupational health and safety requirements that ensure a safe environment for the prevention of risks to the human and the physical element.
- To provide safety for the members of the city and to reduce anxiety and panic during the doing their work or learning or research by virtue of the nature of the work which lies among them & the danger that may threaten their lives.
Safe practice in laboratories
Safety in the laboratory is responsibility of all who work inside the Lab among all users of the laboratory of all scientific and working degree including researchers, students, professors & technicians. Including the responsibility for preserving the Fume hood’s system, ovens, biological and chemical waste, and so forth.
Fire protection in Zewail City Buildings & Labs
Zewail City contains a number of fire protection systems, which consider as one of the main factors in firefighting system. These systems aim to ensure the rapid detection and handling with fire that save time and effort in the process of control and risk assessment. These systems include:
- Fire taps network and its components
- Firefighting network using automatic water sprinklers
- Automatic fire alarm network
- Automatic fire extinguishing systems (Co2 and FM200)
- The distribution of portable fire extinguishers
- Firefighting & civil defense PPE box
