Dr. Shaaban Khalil new research highlighted in Nature Middle East
A new study published in Physical Letters B by Dr. Shaaban Khalil, Director of the Center for Theoretical Physics, has been highlighted by Nature Middle East (NME).
The study, titled “TeV scale leptogenesis in B−L model with alternative cosmologies”, discusses how string theory can explain the presence of an unknown particle right after the Big Bang that allows there to be more matter than antimatter, effectively making the universe full of stars and planets.

Dr. Nicola De Filippis presents the latest results about Higgs searches
A year after the discovery of the Higgs boson, Dr. Nicola De Filippis, Assistant professor at The National Institute for Nuclear Physics - INFN (Italy), presented the latest results from the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) and A Toroidal LHC Apparatus (ATLAS) experiments during his lecture titled ‘The latest results about Higgs searches’. The lecture took place at Center of Theoretical Physics, Zewail City of Science and Technology, on Wednesday 31 July 2013

Dr. Shaaban Khalil represents Zewail City in Invisibles 13 Workshop
Dr. Shaaban Khalil, Director of Center for Theoretical Physics (CTP), Will give a talk titled “Neutrino Masses from TeV Scale” on Wednesday 17 July 2013, during Invisibles 13 workshop. The workshop is taking place in Durham University, UK, from 15 to 19 July 2013.

Professor Iasellis’ journey back into time
Giuseppe Iaselli, a visiting professor at the Center for Theoretical Physics (CTP) at Zewail City of Science and Technology, delivered a seminar on Wednesday, 12 June titled: LHC-CMS project at CERN.
He discussed the role, future and challenges facing the Large Hydron Collider (LHC) and Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Experiment at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

Dr. Shaaban Khalil publishes new study in top journal
Dr. Shaaban Khalil, Director of the Center for Theoretical Physics, along with a team of researchers from Egypt and the UK, have published a research paper titled “Right-handed sneutrino-antisneutrino oscillations in a TeV scale Supersymmetric B-L model” in Physical Review D.

Dr. Sameh Ali, Director of the Center for Aging and Associated Diseases at Zewail City of Science and Technology, published a study titled “Mitochondria/membrane interactions in cellular response to stress” in the Journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB Journal).

Zewail City to open the first research lab of its kind in Africa and Middle East
Zewail City of Science and Technology is currently establishing a research laboratory for studies that focus on the role of cell metabolism and mitochondrial function in the pathogenesis of human diseases, said Dr. Sameh Ali, Director of the Center for Aging and Associated Diseases. During a lecture delivered at Mansoura University’s Urology and Nephrology Center, Ali said the lab, which is expected to be completed within the coming two months, will be the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East

Dr. Nagwa El-Badri receives STDF contract for Stem Cell Research Center
Dr. Nagwa El-Badri, Chair of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Science and Technology, received the Science and Technology Development Fund Grant for Centers of Scientific Excellence (STDF-CSE) in a ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Cairo on Thursday, 23 May. The 10 million EGP grant will go to establishing a Center of Excellence for Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine at Zewail City of Science and Technology. The award also provides for a cord blood and tissue bank facility to be established at collaborating institute, Assiut University.

Dr. Sameh Ali to deliver lecture at Cairo University’s Science Day
Dr. Sameh Ali, director of the Center for Aging and Associated Diseases (CAAD), was invited to deliver a lecture on Wednesday, 17 April, at Cairo University’s Science Day titled “Research: Towards a better Future!”. The event was organized by the university’s Faculty of Physical Therapy, with the aim of increasing students and faculty awareness and understanding of the importance of research to clinicians.

Dr. Sameh Ali to give talk at international meeting
Dr. Sameh Ali, director of Zewail City’s Center for Aging and Associated Diseases, has been invited to deliver a talk at Experimental Biology (EB) 2013, scheduled to be held from 20- 24 April in Boston, USA. EB is the world's largest meeting of scientists and researchers in the fields of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, nutrition, and pharmacology. The meeting will include over 20,000 attendees.

Zewail City hosts First Annual Biomedical Sciences Symposium

STDF awards LE 10 M grant to Zewail City of Science and Technology
