Graduate Admissions

University of Science and Technology at Zewail City (UST) offers graduate programs in Sciences and Engineering disciplines. These graduate programs accept applications from B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree holders.

Applicants with B.Sc. degrees have the opportunity to apply for MEng and M.Sc. graduate programs.

Applicants with M.Sc. degrees have the opportunity to apply for the Ph.D. program. Applicants have to satisfy admission criteria to be accepted in graduate programs at UST.

These admission criteria are intended to confirm the applicant’s scientific caliber in the field in which he/she is pursuing the graduate degree. Due to limited capacity and high caliber of applicants, meeting the minimum requirements might not grant admission into graduate program applied for.The most qualified applicants will be selected.

The University has the right to modify any academic requirements. Requirements and regulations changed by the University will be announced when necessary to all enrolled students. The students are responsible for being aware of all academic requirements and regulations stated in this part and in each specific field of study.

Selection process:

  • All applications are processed and assessed by the graduate program committee (GPC) and approved by the graduate studies committee (GSC).
  • The program committee applies “Equal Opportunity Selection” to all applicants regardless of colour, gender, religion, disability or nationality.
  • Short-listed applicants who passed the initial screening phase will be interviewed by a selection committee, where he/she will have to present a
    research topic and discuss it with the committee.

 

Steps of the graduate admission application:

  •  Fill out the online application 
  •  Attach to the online application the requested documents
  •  Research proposal (for Ph.D. applicants) should be attached with the application.
  •  Submit the online application.
  •  Check your email immediately to click the verification link
  •  You will receive the UST application ID number within 7 working days.
  •  To validate your application, please send a scanned copy of the CIB receipt to email: admission@zewailcity.edu.eg, immediately after the deposit with quoting your application ID number and writing it in the email subject line.

The Graduate Admission Required Documents:

 
1- Academic certificates:
  • Graduate Diploma
  • BS transcript
  • In addition to MS transcript for Ph.D. applicants
  • Any other academic certificate that will enhance your application
2- Letters of recommendations:
  • Submit three reference letters, two of which are obtained from professors familiar with the candidate’s work/academic performance.
  • Internal supervisor, from Zewail City, may support the candidate with one of the three reference letters. If the applicant is a Zewail city graduate, the three letters may be from internal Zewail city faculty.
3- Personal statement/Motivational letter:

It is an important part of your UST graduate application. It should highlight your ambitions, skills, and experience to graduate admission committee. You should also demonstrate the reasons why you want to join the program applied for and reasons for choosing University of Science and Technology at Zewail City.

  • Pass the Candidacy exam
  • Personal statement/Motivational letter should be no more than 1000 words for the Ph.D.

MEng Degree Requirments

 

To be granted admission to the UST MEng graduate program, an applicant should satisfactorily meet all of the following criteria as minimum requirements for admission:

  • Completed online application form along with required admission documents
  • B.Sc. with a minimum GPA of 2.7 granted from an accredited institute or a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of environmental engineering.
 

M.Sc. Degree Requirements

 

To be granted admission to the UST M.Sc. graduate program, an applicant should satisfactorily meet all of the following criteria as minimum requirements for admission:

  • Completed online application form along with required admission documents
  • B.Sc. with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or “Very Good” from an accredited national or international university/institute.
 

Ph.D. Degree Requirments

 

To be granted admission to the Ph.D. graduate program, an applicant should satisfactorily meet all of the following criteria as minimum requirements for admission:

  • Completed online application form along with required admission documents.
  • Submit Passing the GRE exam results with a minimum score 300. In addition to the General GRE, a requirement for the following disciplines of:
  • A Subject GRE of physics for Physics applicants: the minimum requirement for Physics subject GRE is 700.
  • A Subject GRE of Math for Math applicants: the minimum requirement for Math subject GRE is 600.

 

Candidacy Exam:

  • The candidate must pass the “CANDIDACY EXAM”. The Ph.D. Candidacy Exam is a written comprehensive exam in the discipline of the Ph.D. It covers the contents in the compulsory courses of the program requirements in the M.Sc. study plan.
  • The applicant has only two trials to pass the CANDIDACY EXAM, which may be offered twice a year (exam time might differ as announced by the program).
  • The candidate will be formally accepted as a Ph.D. candidate after passing the candidacy examination and approving his/her doctoral plan.
