Zewail City Commemorates the Loss of its Founder with a Higher University Rank and Preparations to Inaugurate the New Administrative Building

Dr. Mahmoud Abdrabou, Acting Executive President of Zewail City, paid tribute to the City founder and the Nobel laureate Dr. Ahmed Zewail in commemoration of Dr. Zewail’s passing on the second of August 2016.

During his career, Dr. Zewail had major contributions to scientific research and discoveries in the chemistry field.

Dr. Zewail was always keen on helping his home country. He established Zewail City as a scientific complex and a national project that supports Egypt's progress in scientific research.

The commemoration of the death of the great Egyptian scientist comes as the City achieves prominence with scientific accomplishments and advanced facilities.

Just recently, the Times Higher Education announced in its ranking of Arab universities that Zewail City is ranked first on the national level and tenth in the Arab region.

As to infrastructure, preparations are ongoing for the inauguration of the administrative and cultural complex at the City's headquarters in October Gardens.

The complex has been equipped and furnished according to the highest standards.
