A Team Including Zewail City Students Wins 4th Place in Switch On Competition

Energizers IIII, a team of students with a majority of members from Zewail City’s University of Science and Technology, won 4th place in the International Energy Case Competition which was held in late November 2021.

The team members included Abdullah Mohammed and Mariam Elkholy from the Renewable Energy Engineering Program, Youssef Mahmoud from the Communications and Information Engineering Program, and Yasmin Abd El-Moniem from Alexandria University.

Over 270 teams including 900 students from 37 countries participated in the 2021 second annual International Switch Energy Case Competition. The teams presented their innovative solutions to the energy poverty problem, targeting a country of their choice out of a set of developing countries.

Energizers IIII’s submission for the competition “South Sudan – Vision 2051” offered a detailed analysis of the current energy poverty situation in South Sudan and proposed an action plan.
