Ocean One: A Robotic Avatar for Oceanic Discovery
Zewail City of Science and Technology is honored to invite you to a distinguished seminar by Dr. Oussama Khatib, Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University and Director of Stanford Robotics Lab.
The seminar will be entitled A Robotic Avatar for Oceanic Discovery and is hosted by Dr. Mohamed Tawfeek.
Oussama Khatib received his PhD from Sup’Aero, Toulouse, France, in 1980. His research focuses on methodologies and technologies in human-centered robotics including humanoid control architectures, human motion synthesis, interactive dynamic simulation, haptics, and human-friendly robot design. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
He is Co-Editor of the Springer Tracts in Advanced Robotics (STAR) series and the Springer Handbook of Robotics, which received the PROSE Award for Excellence in Physical Sciences & Mathematics. Professor Khatib is the President of the International Foundation of Robotics Research (IFRR).
Oussama has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the IEEE RAS Pioneer Award in Robotics and Automation, the IEEE RAS George Saridis Leadership Award in Robotics and Automation, the IEEE RAS Distinguished Service Award, and the Japan Robot Association (JARA) Award in Research and Development.

Nanoparticles are emerging as a class of therapeutics for cancer. Early clinical results suggest that nanoparticle therapeutics can show enhanced efficacy.
This seminar will describe how involved Davis’ team translated these nanoparticles from the laboratory at Caltech into clinical, experimental therapeutics.

Zewail City Science Camp
Zewail City of Science and Technology, in collaboration with Zewail City Student Union, has organized its first science camp on August 6, 2016 at the City’s premises in Sheikh Zaid. The three-day camp was open for 15 to 18-year students.
