Admission Criteria

The University of Science and Technology accepts applications from students who are holders of the following certificates:

  • Thanaweya Amma Certificate (scientific or math section): Students must have achieved an overall score of at least 96%.
  • Thanaweya Azharia Certificate: Students must have achieved an overall score equivalent to 96% in Egyptian Thanaweya Amma. Religious subjects will not calculated.
  • STEM schools (scientific or math section): Students must have achieved an overall score of at least 80%.
  • Thanaweya Amma/Tawgihi Certificate from other Arab Countries (science section): Students must have achieved an overall score of at least 96% (as per the regulations and score calculation rules of the Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt).
  • British schools: GCE/GCSE/IGCSE students must have successfully completed 12 years of schooling, eight IGCSE / GCSE / GCE O-level (OL) subjects and a minimum of one A-level (AL) subject or two Advanced Supplementary-level (ASL) subjects. IGCSE OL subjects should be from the extended system, not the core system. Up to five sittings is considered acceptable (taken over no more than three successive years). The University of Science and Technology accepts a minimum grade of C in O-level or AS-level (math, chemistry, physics or biology) subjects, and a minimum grade of D in A-level subjects (math, chemistry, physics or biology). Repeated subjects will not be double counted. The best grade obtained in a repeated subject will be the only one considered, noting that the number of studied A-level and AS-level subjects will be considered and given a priority. Students who receive an IGCSE certificate must submit proof of 12 years of schooling and must have achieved an overall score equivalent to 95% in Egyptian Thanawiya Amma.
  • American High School Diploma: Students must have successfully completed eight different subjects. Subjects worth less than one credit will not be accepted. Subjects such as physical education, music, yearbook and religion will not be counted. Accepted students must have studied the last three years (grades 10, 11 and 12) in the American system. Subjects can be calculated from grade 11 (maximum of three subjects) and/or 12 (minimum five subjects). The minimum required score for acceptance is a combined total score of 1440/2400 in SAT I and 1100/1600 in SAT II with a minimum score of 500 for each qualifying subject. Students who receive an American High School Diploma must submit proof of 12 years of schooling. They must also achieve an overall score equivalent to 98% in Egyptian Thanawiya Amma.
  • Canadian Diploma from schools inside Egypt: Students must have successfully completed eight different subjects (including the qualifying subjects). Accepted students should have spent the last three years of study in the Canadian system (grades 10, 11 and 12). Subjects worth less than one credit are not accepted. Subjects can be calculated from grade 11 (maximum of three subjects) and from grade 12 (minimum of five subjects). Subjects such as physical education, music, yearbook and religion will not be counted. Students must have achieved a minimum SAT I score of 1440/2400 and a minimum SAT II score (in qualifying subjects) of 1100/1600. They must achieve an overall score equivalent to 96% in Egyptian Thanawiya Amma.
  • Canadian Diploma from international schools in Canada (except the Quebec province): Students must have successfully completed eight different subjects (including the qualifying subjects). Accepted students must have spent the last three years of study in the Canadian system (grades 10, 11 and 12). Subjects worth less than one credit will not be accepted. Subjects can be calculated from grade 11 (maximum of three subjects) and from grade 12 (minimum of five subjects). Subjects such as physical education, music, yearbook and religion will not be counted. An advanced level subject in grade 12 is required either in biology or math. The subject must have also been studied in grade 11. Students must have achieved an overall score equivalent to 96% in Egyptian Thanawiya Amma.
  • French Baccalaureate: Seven subjects must be included in grade calculations (including the qualifying subjects). A minimum score of 10/20 is required as a passing grade. Five points will be added to each course in the evaluation as a bonus and the final percentage will be calculated according to the student’s score in each course and the corresponding coefficient. Students must achieve an overall score equivalent to 96% in Egyptian Thanawiya Amma.
  • German Abitur: Students must have taken the qualifying subjects in grade 11 and 12. Seven subjects must be included in grade calculations (including the qualifying subjects). Students must have achieved an overall score equivalent to 96% in Egyptian Thanawiya Amma.
  • International Baccalaureate: Students must have passed six subjects, with a minimum of three taken at the high level (including the qualifying subjects). A minimum score of 24/45 is required as a passing score. Passing in English language is a must for acceptance. Theory of knowledge, extended essay and creativity are required subjects. Students must obtain the final graduation IB Diploma to be considered for admission. Students must have achieved an overall score equivalent to 96% in Egyptian Thanawiya Amma.
  • Other certificate requirements follow the regulations and score calculation rules of the Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt.
 

Notes

 
  • Achieving the minimum requirement for application does not mean the student will be automatically accepted to the university. Only students achieving the highest high school scores over all the submitted applications in addition to achieving the highest scores in the admission exam (in case the applicant is selected to sit for it), the English exam, and the interview will be considered for acceptance.
  • The minimum required score for admission will be updated each year.
